Visual Identity for “Beyond Words, Between Lines” Exhibition, 2025 Taipei Literature Festival

In this digital age, text has become the core of our daily communication. Yet without the aid of facial expressions or vocal tones, we rely on punctuation marks, kaomoji, emojis, memes, phonetic scripts, and typography to infuse nuance and emotion into our words. These seemingly peripheral elements do more than embellish: they shape precision in meaning and profoundly influence how others perceive our expressions.

The 2025 Taipei Literature Festival Special Exhibition turns its attention to these subtle signals and hidden undercurrents that exist beyond words, revealing how they inform the ways we connect and understand one another.

The “tilde” represents more than merely a punctuation mark, also the multitude of auxiliary signs and unspoken cues that play a vital role in human communication.
